What is a CSA all about?

A CSA (community supported agriculture) is an arrangement where individuals buy into the farm at the start of the growing season and in exchange receive a share of the farm's produce for 20 weeks. Each week from June through October shareholders take home a bounty of freshly picked produce ranging from heirloom tomatoes to our delicious peas, squash, lettuce and sweet red strawberries. The farm raises more than 110 varieties of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. CSA is a partnership between the grower and the consumer. CSA members make a commitment to support the farm throughout the growing season by paying in advance for a portion of the farmer’s produce. This CSA arrangement guarantees farmers a market for the season’s produce, provides a more secure income and enables them to maintain their farming way of life.

CSA members receive a share of the farm’s produce. A large share is for a family of 3 to 5 members and is $545 for 20 weeks. Each large share contains 9 to 12 varieties of seasonal fruits and vegetables. We also offer a biweekly (Large) share for 10 weeks at $330. We have a small share for a family of 2 adults and are $365 for 20 weeks. Each small share contains 6 to 8 varieties of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Please Note: Online CSA orders include a transaction fee. If you would like to avoid this transaction fee, download the 2024 mail-in CSA Sign-Up form on the CSA signup tab.

CSA members may add an egg share. Our cage-free Rhode Island Red laying chickens produce fresh brown eggs. These chickens are cage free and roam in our large open air buildings which protect them from predators like raccoons, coyotes, minks, foxes and hawks. Their diet is supplemented with cracked corn. A weekly egg share of one dozen eggs is $100 for 20 weeks and a biweekly egg share is $50 for 10 weeks.

“Jane’s Specials” is an exclusive offer for our CSA members to order extra produce and specialty items delivered the coming week to your pick-up site. Each Thursday you will receive a list (and a link) in an email of “extras” you can order from our online store. These items can be ordered through our website starting Thursday afternoon through Sunday until 9 pm. Some examples of these extras include: extra quantities of fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, a variety of herb, vegetable and flower plants, fresh brown eggs, Dillner Family Farm raw honey, fall decorations, half bushel amounts of produce for canning or freezing in the fall and “end of season” specials. Someone else may pick up your weekly or bi-weekly share if you are unable to do so yourself. Shares not picked up will be donated to local food banks and charities or the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Email is our best means of communication. Please email Jane a week in advance to make any changes.

Please note: Online orders include a credit transaction fee. If you would like to avoid this transaction fee, click to print our CSA Sign-Up form on the sign up tab and mail it to us with your check.

**We are complying with CDC and Department of Agriculture guidelines and recommendations for our CSA pickup procedures to ensure the safety of our members.

"... We have learned to use every bit of our produce.  We will blanche, roast, freeze, and never just throw something away.  We have shared with neighbors when we have enough.  We can't wait until next year!"  Patty/ Plum
